Blackledge, Minutes from 9/23 approved on a Deutschlander /Young motion, with Asamoah abstaining. Discussed inviting Dr. Michael Korn, Industrial and Labor Relations, to meet with the LSC concerning the request to add him to the LBST 499 syllabus, The World of Work. He will attend the 10/7/04 meeting. Discussed the Liberal Studies component for the proposed track – BS in Natural Science/Science for Disaster Response Track. Sadler met with the proposer and shared the LSC concerns related to the correct number of LS credits, admission criteria, placement exams, pre-admission interview, and the intensive delivery model. Sadler reviewed the list of people that will make up the first work group charged with developing a draft set of Student Learning Goals. ASPCUF designated an appointee to join the group. Reviewed the Type I proposal from Dr. Daniel Lee, Criminology department and made the following recommendations: 1. insure that the course description is EXACTLY as it appears in the undergraduate catalog, 2. insure that the course objectives are those that were approved by the Senate when the course received approval (changing or revising these necessitates a course revision). The exception is that one objective related to the improvement of student writing skills may be added to a course that is being taught as a /w/ without going through the UWUCC course revision process., 3. include a sample of how writing assignments are evaluated or how a particular writing assignment might be graded, i.e. rubrics, evaluation criteria for a particular assignment? How will students determine their degree of progress in the evaluation of their writing? and 4. typographical errors: topical outline -- is there an extra day of class (perhaps 10/30) and pages 13, 15 and 17 need the dates revised to be current.
