Ray Edwards

Raymond G. Edwards, a junior International Business and Economics double major and Music minor in 亚色影库's Robert E. Cook Honors College, has been appointed by Pennsylvania Governor Edward G. Rendell as a student trustee on the Council of Trustees.

Edwards was appointed June 11, 2009. He will serve in the role of student trustee until his graduation in 2011. Members of the Council of Trustees are community volunteers appointed by the governor to be responsible for financial oversight and ensuring compliance of university policies with state law. The Council of Trustees meets quarterly and other times as needed.

鈥淚 am pleased and delighted that Mr. Edwards has been appointed to serve on the Council of Trustees,鈥 Dr. Tony Atwater, 亚色影库 president, said. 鈥淗e is an outstanding student and an engaged learner and leader within the 亚色影库 community, and I am confident that he will be an excellent representative of the 亚色影库 student body.鈥

Edwards is the son of Raymond and Janis Edwards, of Wernersville.

鈥淚t will be a pleasure and honor to serve the university and community that I love,鈥 Edwards said.

鈥淚 hope to be a sounding board for students and to advance 亚色影库 as a place from where students are proud to earn valuable degrees and garner invaluable experiences.鈥

Edwards is president of student-alumni group the 亚色影库 Ambassadors and treasurer of the Honors Connection club. He is a member of the Student Government Association, chairman of the Rules Committee, and a senator at large with the University Senate. He also serves on the Eberly College of Business and Information Technology Strategic Planning Committee.

He was selected for Beta Gamma Sigma business honor fraternity and the Delta Epsilon Iota and Mortarboard honor societies. He also is a recipient of the Honors College Board of Directors Scholarship, the Eberly College of Business Family Scholarship, and the Small Steps Scholarship. Edwards is a student worker in the Cook Honors College office.

A 2007 graduate of Conrad Weiser High School, he was class president and graduated third in his class. He also received the College Board AP Scholarship with Distinction award, the National Merit Scholarship, the Senator Brightbill Citizenship Award, the E. Jerry Brooks District III sports award for academic excellence, and the Governor Rendell Certificate of Merit for outstanding performance on the ACT Test.
