On a Yost/Brown motion the April 18, 2006 minutes were APPROVED as submitted. ANNOUNCEMENTS: Dr. LaPorte announced that there was an email from the Academic Affairs Committee who has thanked us but declined our offer to send over the Academic Business. Dr. LaPorte is going to announce that the intention of the Academic Affairs Committee, University-Wide Graduate Committee, and the Rules Committee is to propose the formation of a Graduate Academic Committee; one of the first items of business of the new committee would be to draft an Integrity Policy with heavy emphasis on research fraud. Dr. LaPorte thanked Parker Boerner and Nancy Yost, who will be leaving the committee, for their presences on the committee; he also thanked the Deans Associate, David Myers, for all his time and hard work that he put into the proposals that came to the committee. Lastly, Dr. LaPorte thanked the Dean, Ramesh Soni, who will also be leaving the committee as well as the position of Dean of the Graduate School. Dr. Williamson announced that he did indeed write the draft letter regarding the Deans position, after much discussion with rep council and meet and discuss it was decided that there were a number of factors in why it could not work out for Ramesh to continue in this position and the letter was abandoned. Dr. David Myers thanked Ramesh for what he has done for the last couple of years. Dr. Myers passed out a new course EDSP 623: Educational Programming for Gifted Learners; also the large program that he had expected to also pass out is still at the Provosts office for her signature. Dr. Soni announced that the default disk quotas for the storage of e-mail messages have been increased for employees and students. Default disk quotas for employees have been raised from 120 MB to 240 MB. For students, the default quota has been raised from 20 MB to 200MB. Dr. Soni also announced that there is a workshop at 4:00pm in the Crimson Room (Folger) celebrating Civic Engagement Month with Dr. George Mehaffy, Vice President of Academic Leadership and Change, American Association of State Colleges and Universities, as the speaker. Dr. Soni also wanted to extend his thanks to David Myers for a job well done on the committee. He thanked Ms. Sandy Pembleton for her excellent support efforts toward a smooth functioning of the committee. Further, he thanked co-chairs LaPorte and Williamson for their invaluable service to the University community. Finally, he thanked all the members of the committee for their hard work and dedication to graduate education; he was very appreciative of all the support he personally received from each and every member of the committee.
