Excused: Turner The minutes from the October 21, 2008 Curriculum Committee Meeting were approved on a Hannibal/Sadler motion. Co-Chairs Report Sechrist announced that there were no curriculum proposals on Mondays TECC agenda, but that Dean Rafoth reported that PDE is requiring that all education programs be revised by the end of this academic year. PDE has provided new information about the total number of credits that will be allowed for each degree by the State System, although the information was incomplete and will be clarified at a meeting the System Deans of Education will be attending this Friday. Needs to go to Liberal Studies first as this fulfills 121 for English majors. 08-39e ENGL 208 Introduction to Film Studies (was Art of the Film), course title change. Approved on a Sadler/Hannibal motion. Craig abstained. 08-39f ENGL 222 Technical Writing (was ENGL 322 Technical Writing I), course number and title change, catalog description change Approved on a Sadler/Carranza motion. Craig abstained. 08-39g ENGL 308 Literary, Textual, and Cultural Studies Theory (was ENGL 401 Advanced Literary Theory and Criticism), course number and title change, catalog description change Returned. This new description implies changes to the content, which requires a course revision. Also, will the course still be available to other tracks? Rationale needs to address that. Also, in the course description, it is implied there is only one theory called literary, textual, and cultural theory. Is this correct? What does in a variety of institutional contexts mean? 08-39h ENGL 332 Film Genres (was Advanced Film), course title and catalog description change Provisionally approved on a Sadler/McCombie motion. Craig abstained. Need to add the rationale for removing ENGL 101 as a prerequisite.
