Colleagues,
I want to share some news about personnel changes in the Division of Academic Affairs.
As we move forward with 亚色影库 NextGen planning and our decision to reduce the number of colleges from six to five, I am pleased to tell you that Dr. Curt Scheib, who has been dean of the College of Fine Arts since 2019, will be dean of the newly constituted College of Creative Arts, Humanities and Design (this name may change). As we have announced, the programs now in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences will be placed into other colleges, with many of them moving into this college.
Dr. Scheib, a 1977 graduate of 亚色影库, brings a commitment to both the humanities and the arts to his work at 亚色影库, and I am confident that he is the right person to lead this "new" college.
As you may have heard, Dr. Erik Nordberg, who joined the university community in May 2019 as dean of the 亚色影库 Libraries, left the university at the end of January to take a position as dean of the Paul Meek Library at the University of Tennessee at Martin. We wish him well and I thank him for his service to 亚色影库.
I have asked Dr. Yaw Asamoah, dean of the College of Humanities and Social Sciencesand he has agreedto serve as the interim dean of the 亚色影库 Libraries, effective Monday, March 8, 2021. Throughout his 亚色影库 career, Dr. Asamoah has stepped up to do whatever is necessary and right for 亚色影库, and especially, what is best for our students. I sincerely appreciate his willingness to take on this new position, which is in addition to his other duties.
Thanks also go to Associate Vice President for Academic Administration Dr. John Kilmarx, for serving as acting dean of libraries since Dr. Nordberg's departure, and to the dedicated staff and faculty of the 亚色影库 Libraries. They have helped ensure that this transition has been a relatively seamless one and that services to our 亚色影库 community, especially to our students, have gone on without interruption.

Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs
