After participating in this year's Vinylthon, won the Golden Slipmat Award for a second time, plus the Distinguished Production Award.
Vinylthon is an event coordinated by the , where participating stations play music sourced only from vinyl records for a given weekend. While radio stations can decide how to go about it, they're encouraged to participate in Vinylthon for 24 to 48 straight hours. The event fundraises for the College Radio Foundation's scholarship, helping to train the next generation of radio and audio practitioners.
Last year was W亚色影库's first Vinylthon, and they coordinated a full 24 hours of vinyl-based programming with student DJs. For doing so, they earned the Golden Slipmat Award.
This year, they went for the full 48 hours from midnight on Saturday, April 2o, until midnight on Monday, April 22. For this, they won the Golden Slipmat again, along with the Distinguished Production Award, only given to stations who participate in all 48 hours of Vinyl programming.
To make this possible, several students and community volunteers signed up to fill shifts, including communications major Summer MacPherson, who deejayed for 10 full hours throughout the weekend!
Vinylthon makes one of the most fun and diverse weekends of W亚色影库 programming all year, and they look forward to next year's event to reclaim their title.
