Dr. Phillip E. Myers has been selected to serve as executive director of the 亚色影库 Research Institute. He will begin his position July 1, 2009.

鈥淒r. Myers is a nationally recognized figure in university research management. He is much sought after as a consultant to universities and independent sponsored research corporations for his practical advice and knowledge relating to federal OMB [Office of Management and Budget] compliance monitoring. He is at the top of his field. As a board of directors, we believe Dr. Myers' previous experiences and demonstrated skills will contribute significantly to the advancement of the 亚色影库 research 补驳别苍诲补.鈥

Myers comes to 亚色影库 from Bowling Green, Ky., where he served as director of the Office of Sponsored Programs since 1994 and director of Administration since 2006 of the Western Kentucky University Research Foundation Inc.
The 亚色影库 Research Institute is designed to advance the research agenda and educational objectives of 亚色影库 by encouraging, promoting, conducting, administering, and supporting research in academic disciplines.
It is governed by a board of directors that includes members of the 亚色影库 and Indiana communities. Its staff provides a range of pre-award and post-award services for 亚色影库 faculty and staff pursuing or engaged in sponsored program activity.
In his current position, Myers is responsible for establishing universitywide policies and procedures for research and grants administration compliance with university, state, and federal regulations. He also manages the sponsored programs office staff to increase the level of funding for basic and applied research by encouraging and assisting in the development of grant proposals and contracts.
In his role, Myers directed the increase of grant proposals from $16 million in fiscal year 1995 to nearly $70 million in fiscal years 2003 and 2004.

Before his current work, Myers was associate dean of the College of Graduate Studies at Mankato State University, now Minnesota State University, Mankato, and interim graduate dean, College of Graduate Studies. He also worked as professor of history at the university.
He has worked as an assistant professor of history at Bellevue College, Bellevue, Neb., and as an instructor of history at the University of Iowa and at Ottumwa Heights College, now Indian Hills Community College.
He is a retired member of the Army National Guard, achieving the rank of lieutenant colonel.
He is the author of Caution and Cooperation: The American Civil War in British-American Relations, published by Kent State University Press in 2008, and has also published several articles on research institutes and administration.
He has been an invited presenter at many professional conferences and meetings. He is also a member of several professional organizations, including the National Council of University Research Administrators and the Society of Research Administrators International, serving as its journal editor.
Myers has a Ph.D. in history from the University of Iowa and master's and bachelor's degrees in history from the University of Colorado.
