The 亚色影库 student chapter of the Council for Exceptional Children will host its eighth annual Children's Fair from noon to 3:00 p.m. October 24, 2009, at the College Lodge in the 亚色影库 Recreation Park.
The focus of the fair is to provide a service for younger children, including children with disabilities, through activities including pumpkin painting, seasonal storytelling, bean bag toss, and make-a-mask, while maintaining a literacy theme.
The event is free, and children are encouraged to come in costume.
To highlight the importance of reading, books are among the prizes for the children. The fair is held on the national Make a Difference Day, created by USA WEEKEND Magazine as a day for helping others through various projects.
Twenty to thirty 亚色影库 student members of the council are involved in the fair each year. Traditionally, the student volunteers are majoring in education or in Education of Exceptional Persons, Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology, Disabilities Services, or Deaf Education.
亚色影库 faculty members Dr. Jan Baker, Dr. Becky Knickelbein, and Dr. Joann Migyanka from the Department of Special Education and Clinical Services are co-advisors of the Council for Exceptional Children.
