Janet Guyden, who has more than 30 years of experience in higher education, has been selected to serve as interim dean of the 亚色影库 Libraries.

Janet Guyden named interim dean of librariesShe will begin her work at 亚色影库 on August 22.

A national search for the Dean of 亚色影库 Libraries position has begun; Guyden will serve in the interim role until the search is successfully concluded.

Guyden comes to 亚色影库 from Grambling State University, where she last served as a professor in the Department of Educational Leadership. She has held a number of roles at Grambling State, including interim provost and vice president for academic affairs; interim provost and vice president for academic and student affairs; and associate vice president for research and dean of the College of Professional Studies.

鈥淲e are very pleased to welcome Dr. Guyden to 亚色影库 in this interim role,鈥 亚色影库 Provost Timothy Moerland said. 鈥淪he has a wealth of experience in academia and is a good fit to continue the good work already underway at the 亚色影库 Libraries,鈥 he said.

鈥淒eanne Snavely has done yeoman's work in her role as interim dean of 亚色影库 Libraries, and I want to publicly thank her for service and leadership,鈥 Moerland said.

The 亚色影库 Libraries include the Indiana campus library, the Music Library in Cogswell Hall and libraries at 亚色影库 Punxsutawney and Northpointe campuses.

鈥淭he library is the heart of the instructional and research functions in the university,鈥 Guyden said. 鈥淎s both the repository and the gateway to knowledge in a rapidly-changing knowledge environment, the libraries must work with the university community to maintain collections that support instruction and research as well as provide welcoming environments that support individual and group learning.鈥

Guyden has held several positions at Florida A&M University. While a professor of Educational Leadership, she was principal investigator of a $4 million Carnegie Corporation project, 鈥淭eachers for a New Era.鈥 Goals of this grant funded project including revising and reforming teacher education at the university to incorporate university-wide participation in the teacher preparation process.

She also served in leadership positions in the College of Education there, which included leadership and administrative oversight for the Developmental Research School System. She also was interim department chair, associate department chair, associate professor and coordinator of the Educational Leadership Ph.D. Program.

Prior to her work there, she was a faculty member and coordinator of the Higher Education Administration program in the Department of Educational Policy Studies at Georgia State University. She also worked as a counseling psychologist at Augusta College (Augusta State University).

She began her career at Paine College, serving as dean of the Office of Admissions, Recruitment and Financial Aid; was director of the Counseling Center and was a Counselor and Tutorial Program supervisor.

Guyden earned a bachelor's degree in English from Howard University, a master of education in counselor education from Worcester State University and a doctoral degree in administration and supervision from Georgia State University.
