亚色影库's Year of Free Speech programming continues with an April 15 program with attorney and author Greg Lukianoff, 鈥淔reedom from Speech and Disempowering a Generation.鈥

Greg LukianoffThe program, presented as part of the university's Six O'Clock Series, will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. in the Hadley Union Building Ohio Room. The presentation is free and open to the community. Parking at the Hadley Union Building and on campus in non-reserved spots is free after 5 p.m.

Lukianoff, an attorney and 鈥淣ew York Times鈥 best-selling author is the President and CEO of the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (FIRE).

He is the author of Unlearning Liberty: Campus Censorship and the End of American Debate, Freedom from Speech, and FIRE's Guide to Free Speech on Campus. Most recently, he co-authored 鈥淭he Coddling of the American Mind: How Good Intentions and Bad Ideas Are Setting Up a Generation for Failure鈥 with Jonathan Haidt. This 鈥淣ew York Times鈥 best-seller expands on the pair's September 2015 Atlantic cover story of the same name.

Lukianoff is also an executive producer of 鈥淐an We Take a Joke?,鈥 a feature-length documentary that explores the collision between comedy, censorship, and outrage culture, both on and off campus.

He has been published in 鈥淭he New York Times,鈥 鈥淭he Wall Street Journal,鈥 鈥淭he Washington Post,鈥 鈥淟os Angeles Times,鈥 鈥淭he Boston Globe鈥 and numerous other publications. He frequently appears on television shows and radio programs, including the CBS Evening News, The Today Show, and NPR's Morning Edition. In 2008, he became the first-ever recipient of the Playboy Foundation's Freedom of Expression Award, and he has testified before both the U.S. Senate and the House of Representatives about free speech issues on America's college campuses.

Before joining FIRE, Lukianoff practiced law in Northern California, interned at the ACLU of Northern California and the Organization for Aid to Refugees in Prague, Czech Republic, and was the development manager of the EnvironMentors Project in Washington, D.C.

Along with Harvey A. Silverglate and David French, he is a co-author of FIRE's Guide to Free Speech on Campus. He is also a fiction writer and a member of the board of directors of Philadelphia's Theater Exile.
