亚色影库 honored three alumni and a graduating student for outstanding volunteerism through the Award of Excellence in Volunteer Leadership program, held during the annual Volunteer Recognition Breakfast on April 13.
The event was part of the university’s Celebration Weekend, which included the university’s Distinguished Alumni Awards gala on April 13.
The Award of Excellence program is sponsored by the 亚色影库 Alumni Association and is presented in four categories: Advancement Support, Affinity Services, Aspiring Alumni, and Regional Impact.
Recipients for 2024 are Ruth Riesenman, of Indiana, award for Advancement Support; Omega Gamble, of Concord, NC, award for Affinity Services; Milady Lagunas, of Nottingham, Aspiring Alumni; and Tracy Settle, of Bradenton, FL, award for Regional Impact.
“亚色影库 continues to enjoy its success in great part because of committed, passionate alumni like these recipients,” Interim Vice President of University Advancement Jennifer Dunsmore said.
“They say that volunteers do not necessarily have the time, they have the heart. These four individuals are a testament to that. With all they do in their communities for others, they still find the time to give so much back to the institution that remains so close to their hearts. We are truly grateful for their time and talents,” she said.
Young Alumni Achievement Award recipient Andrew Longacre, who earned bachelor’s degrees from 亚色影库 in both safety science and political science in 2018 and an MBA in 2019, was the breakfast keynote speaker.
Longacre, originally from Danielsville, was a student trustee at 亚色影库, a senior senator, vice chairman of the University Senate, finance committee member and board treasurer for the Student Cooperative Association Board of Directors, and a founding father of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He was also a member of the 亚色影库 Ambassadors, Student Government Association, 亚色影库 Safety Sciences American Society of Safety Engineers student section, and was on the track and field team.
He is the president and CEO of Millennium Family of Companies of Canonsburg.
He continues his strong affiliation with 亚色影库, serving as a member of the Foundation for 亚色影库 Board of Directors, and participating on alumni speaker panels. In memory of his friend and former 亚色影库 trustee, Gealy Wallwork, he established the Wallwork Memorial Scholarship Endowment to provide support to 亚色影库 students.
