Accreditation

The Bachelor of Science degree program in Safety, Health, and Environmental Applied Sciences degree program is accredited by the Applied and Natural Science Accreditation Commission (ANSAC) of ABET, . The SHE Applied Sciences program received accreditation through the Applied and Natural Science Accreditation Commission of ABET during the fall 2021–22 cycle. This program currently has 225 students and will graduate approximately 50 students per year. This program has the following educational objectives and student outcomes.

The BS degree meets the standards as a Qualified Academic Program. As a QAP, graduates of the BS degree are awarded the Graduate Safety Practitioner designation from the BCSP. Graduates with this designation receive a waiver of the Safety Fundamentals Examination and the recognition they are proceeding toward the CSP safety certification.

Congratulations to our alumni Lori Schroth and Brandon Hody for the selection of their article "Are My Workers Competent in EHS? Competency Based Training to Improve Learning" to be the 2023 ASSP "Professional Safety" journal article of the year.

The annual American Society of Safety Professionals Conference will be held August 7–9, 2024. ÑÇÉ«Ó°¿â Safety Sciences alumni are invited to join the ÑÇÉ«Ó°¿â Safety Science and Environmental Engineering Department for an informal happy hour at the Yard House on Thursday, August 8, from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. Stop by the ÑÇÉ«Ó°¿â booth in the ASP Career Center for more information!

The annual ÑÇÉ«Ó°¿â Safety Sciences and Environmental Engineering Career Fair is set for September 26, 2024, at ÑÇÉ«Ó°¿â's Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex. Registration is now open.

ÑÇÉ«Ó°¿â is addressing a need for trained professionals in the biosafety and biosecurity fields through its specialized Biosafety/Biorisk Management Certificate program.

ÑÇÉ«Ó°¿â Safety Sciences Student Organization Named 2023 Outstanding Student Section of the Year by AASP

ÑÇÉ«Ó°¿â’s Safety Sciences American Society of Safety Professionals student section has been named the Outstanding Student Section of the Year by the American Society of Safety Professionals. The honor comes with a $5,000 award from the ASSP to fund scholarships and research.
