Oksana Moroz (left) and Ammar Mahmoud with their awards
The Kathleen Jones White Writing Center is proud to announce that two of our graduate tutors received graduate awards for their poster presentations at 亚色影库’s spring 2024 Scholar’s Forum.
Ammar Mahmoud: Dean’s Award for the Top-Ranked Graduate Project
Ammar’s poster presents a time-efficient plan to help college students at any level with their writing assignments. By following Ammar’s seven easy steps, students can develop a peer-reviewed draft that meets the grading criteria while citing required readings effectively. The plan starts with tips on analyzing the assignment prompt and drafting an outline. The next steps show how to do strategic reading and use annotated notes. This is followed by suggestions on writing a final draft and reviewing it before submission.
Oksana Moroz: Outstanding Poster Award, Graduate Category
Oksana’s poster presentation reports on a study comprised of a survey and a case study into the habits and usages of digital tools and the identity construction of Gen Z multilingual undergraduate students during COVID-19. The study's results highlight students’ habits regarding using digital spaces, time spent online, and internal and external factors. Furthermore, the COVID-19 pandemic is viewed as a significant factor in shaping digital habits and identity construction and as a variable impacting participants’ routines. With a widespread belief that Gen Z students are digital natives (Hazard & Carter, 2020), the participants of this study proved that each student is unique, and we cannot assume that their lives are absorbed in technology. Nonetheless, the reality of digital globalization impacts individuals in every aspect of their lives.
