All other employees are encouraged to take earned annual, personal, or documented compensatory leave for this day.
Only permanent employees are eligible for paid holidays. To earn the paid holiday, the employee must be in an active pay status for the last half of the employee's scheduled work day immediately before the holiday, the day the holiday is observed, and the first half of the employee's scheduled work day immediately following the holiday. If the employee is on a leave without pay for any part of the aforementioned period, he/she will not earn the paid holiday.
Permanent part-time employees earn a prorated number of hours for holidays based on the number of hours of their regular work schedule, not the actual days of their work schedule. A permanent part-time employee who works 18.75 hours per week earns 3.75 hours of holiday pay for the holiday, regardless of the number of hours the employee is scheduled to work on the day that the holiday falls.
