The University Museum at ÑÇÉ«Ó°¿â returns to the , 732 Philadelphia Street, with the exhibit The University Museum Goes Down: From Our Walls to Your Home, opening Friday, April 28, with a free, public reception from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Artists Hand. This is your chance to own a piece of the University Museum, as all works on display are available for sale.

Artists Hand Gallery hours are Monday-Saturday 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.

Magical Land of Spiritual Wonders is an exhibition of 21 stunning photographs of Tibetan landscapes and depictions of daily life in Tibet taken by some of the world's foremost photographic artists. The images are on loan from Tibet Image Bank, London.

Also on display will be photographs by Bill Double and items from Irene Kabala's personal collection.

The University Museum at ÑÇÉ«Ó°¿â overlooks the Oak Grove, a park-like space, older than the university itself with tall trees, grass, flowers, benches, and paths that lead students to and from class. With the exhibition Environmental, we bring the outside in, allowing artists to interpret the theme through paint, print, sculpture, wood, and fiber.

The exhibition features works by Elizabeth Rose, Kaoru Tohara, Avonelle Whitacre, Beth Fiddler, Sharon Boykiw, Bridget Battaglini, Jorge Rivas, Jack Honeysett, Cathy Paterson, Brennon Huff, Jess Green, Julie Woodard, Jolene Joyner, Tony Golden, Matthew Bartus, Jonelle Summerfield, Aaron Vizzini, Ali Pate, Joy Fairbanks, Janice Trusky, Courtney Scherf, and Dodd Holsapple.

Environmental will be on display January 21 until March 4, 2023, with a free, public opening reception on Saturday, January 21, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. During the opening reception, Kevin Patrick, professor of geography, will speak about his new book, Near Woods: A Year in an Allegheny Forest.

Note: The University Museum will close at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 2, for a private event.

Lecture: Native Plants for Garden Spaces with Barbara Hauge

Thursday, February 23, 2023, 6:30 p.m., University Museum, Sutton Hall

Pennsylvania registered landscape architect Barbara Hauge, of UpStreet Architects in Indiana, Pa., will present a lecture on the importance of native perennials, shrubs, and trees and how to incorporate them into your garden spaces. Admission is free for this event.

Opening Reception: Saturday, September 10, 2022, 6:00 p.m.–8:00 p.m.

This exhibition brings together a group of dynamic and culturally diverse artists of color who collectively work in a broad range of media mirroring the distinct experiences of the artists themselves. Their art shares life stories through expressions of frustration, pride, racism, joy, and pain. 

The exhibition includes works and performances by Tina Brewer, Ashley Jones, Mary Martin, Christine Bethea, Jo-Anne Bates, Ruth Bedeian, Carlos Peterson, V Owens, Ricardo Iamuuri Robinson, and Jasiri X. 


The University Museum is located on the first floor of Sutton Hall. Museum hours are Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday 2:00–6:30 p.m.; Thursday noon–7:30 p.m.; and Saturday noon–4:30 p.m.. The museum is closed Sunday, Monday, and university holidays. A public reception is scheduled for Saturday, October 23, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and both the reception and the exhibit are free.
