A pioneer in play therapy will offer a two-day workshop for the Center for Counselor Training and Services.
Professional counselors and counseling students are invited to register for “Child-Parent Relationship Therapy (CPRT), a Ten-Session Filial Therapy Model” with Dr. Garry Landreth.
Landreth is an internationally known figure in the field of play therapy.
The event will be April 9 and 10, 2010, at the Greensburg Garden and Civic Center in Greensburg.
Play therapy is generally used with children ages three through eleven and provides a way for them to express their experiences and feelings through play.
Landreth is a Regents Professor in the Counselor Education Department at the University of North Texas. He is the founder and director of the Center for Play Therapy, the largest play-therapy training program in the world, and has conducted workshops on play therapy throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, China, South Africa, and South Korea.
He has more than 150 publications, including seven books on play therapy. His award-winning book Play Therapy: The Art of the Relationship, has been translated into Mandarin, Russian, and Korean.
Landreth is a licensed professional counselor, a licensed psychologist, a founding member of the board of directors of the Association for Play Therapy, and a registered play therapy supervisor. He has also received numerous professional honors.
This two-day workshop will focus on the dynamic relationship facets of training parents to be therapeutic agents in their children's lives. This practical, “how-to” seminar includes training and treatment outlines, how to teach child-centered play therapy skills, and techniques for involving parents in the learning process.
Continuing education credits will be offered through the National Board for Certified Counselors and the Pennsylvania Association for Play Therapy. Act 48 hours will also be issued to interested participants at the completion of the workshop.
Workshop coordinator CCTS is an 亚色影库 center that develops professional workshops and training for community and school counseling professionals throughout the region. CCTS is directed by Dr. John McCarthy, 亚色影库 Counseling professor.
