Following a national search, a higher education professional with two decades of experience in sponsored research, grants management, and administration has been selected as the executive director of the ÑÇÉ«Ó°¿â Research Institute by the ÑÇÉ«Ó°¿â Research Institute Board of Directors.

The Department of Anthropology has been selected by the Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine Inc. through the Department of Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency to continue its field study in Germany at the site of a crash of a World War II airplane. Laurie McNeil, a nationally recognized condensed matter-materials physicist, will be at ÑÇÉ«Ó°¿â on February 9 and 10 to present three programs as the spring 2023 ÑÇÉ«Ó°¿â Sigma Xi distinguished speaker.
ÑÇÉ«Ó°¿â has been selected to receive $72,049 from the Pennsylvania Department of Education through its Teacher Prep 2 Practice grant program. ÑÇÉ«Ó°¿â’s funding will be used to design a culturally relevant teaching academy to diversify the teacher workforce and address the national teacher shortage. This work will take place in partnership with the Gateway School District in Monroeville, Allegheny County.
ÑÇÉ«Ó°¿â has received $4.98 million from the Department of Defense for the first three years of a novel project to enhance Cybersecurity and STEM education in Pennsylvania (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics).
ÑÇÉ«Ó°¿â has received more than $460,000 from the United States Department of Agriculture to develop a specialized Biosafety/Biorisk Management Certificate program at ÑÇÉ«Ó°¿â.
Lynn Botelho, Distinguished University Professor and professor of history at ÑÇÉ«Ó°¿â, is the recipient of a $200,000 grant from the Teagle Foundation – the National Endowment for the Humanities to implement the Big Ideas: Transformative Culture and the Professions program at ÑÇÉ«Ó°¿â.
ÑÇÉ«Ó°¿â has received $40,000 from the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board’s Reducing Underage Drinking and Dangerous Drinking Grant program, with a focus on both reducing underage and dangerous drinking and increasing retention of Black and Brown students, while welcoming all students to participate in grant project related events and activities.

The ÑÇÉ«Ó°¿â Research Institute is offering training to primary investigators on how to begin their own proposals in the Kuali system. Sessions are in February, April, and by appointment.
