The 亚色影库 Diversity and Inclusion Symposium is a universitywide symposium focusing on these issues. Symposium events are free and open to the community.

亚色影库 is pleased to welcome Peggy McIntosh as the symposium's keynote speaker. Her presentation is titled 鈥淐oming to See Privilege Systems: The Surprising Journey.鈥 In her address, she will describe how she came to see her unearned privilege, which is at the other end of unearned disadvantage.

Other speakers include Candi Castleberry Singleton, Sean McCaskill, Davie Huddleston, and Arthur Woods.

Registration is closed, but walk-ins are welcome to any of the morning or afternoon sessions. Reservations required for lunch and table talk session.

Keynote: Peggy McIntosh, 鈥淐oming to See Privilege Systems: The Surprising Journey鈥

Dr. Peggy McIntosh will describe how she came to see her unearned privilege, which is at the other end of unearned disadvantage. She will describe some effects of privilege systems on curriculum, teaching methods, social climates, and university policies, and she will discuss some of the benefits of using power to share power.

Panel Discussion: 鈥淢icroaggressions and Macro Effects: Learning to Recognize, Interrupt, and Navigate Colorblind Racism鈥

This session will explore what microaggressions are and their impact on both the people who express them and the people who are targeted by these subtle forms of racism. What are ways that members of the majority can learn to recognize these damaging forms of bias, and how can the targets of microaggressions develop the resiliency to combat and overcome their impact? Panelists include 亚色影库 alumni Art Woods, Sean McCaskill, and Davie Huddleston.

WORKSHOP: 鈥淒ignity and Respect: Making the World A Better Place for All to Live, Work, Learn, and Play鈥

The is inspiring people across the nation to treat each other with dignity and respect. At the heart of their approach is the core belief that everyone wants to be treated with dignity and respect in the workplace and community. Through this workshop, you will learn strategies to help make your organization a better place for all to work鈥攚ith all of our differences鈥攂y integrating the concepts of dignity and respect into core processes. Presented by Candi Castleberry Singleton.
