Jan Wachter was recognized at the College of Health and Human Services' 30th annual awardsrecognition, held virtuallyon May 7, 2020, as the 2019-20 Outstanding Researcher award recipient. In addition, Wachter was also recently selected to receive the Dean's Award for Outstanding Research, also sponsored virtually by the School of Graduate Studies and Research.
Wachter joined 亚色影库 in 2007 and is currently a professor in the Department of Safety Sciences and coordinator of the PhD program in Safety Sciences. During his time at 亚色影库, Wachter has become a five-time recipient of 亚色影库's Research Merit Award. His research has also been extensive and of national interest, and validated by others through their commentary and support, resulting in major accomplishments such as publication of the college textbooks Applied Quantitative Methods for Occupational Safety and Health and Ethics for the Safety and Health Professional: Approaches and Case Studies by American Industrial Hygiene Association; and research completion and publication on the effects of ethics, safety management practices, and worker engagement on safety and business outcomes. Wachter's areas of publications are extensive and include, but are not limited, to safety management, safety ethics, fatality, and serious injury prevention.
Past competitive grant activity includes nearly $600,000 from Alcoa and the American Industrial Hygiene Association. In addition to research, Wachter's service to 亚色影库 is extensive and includes many years of service in the 亚色影库 Senate as well as being co-chair of the University Academic Affairs Committee. He has also contributed significantly to the CHHS on a variety of committees as well as serving as the current PhD coordinator and former Safety Sciences chairperson.
