September 08, 2016 at 7:00 p.m.
Indiana Theater, Downtown Indiana
This event is over.
As a proud sponsor of this year's to be held in Downtown Indiana September 9-11, 2016, we will present a free pre-opening concert September 8. The concert will feature fiddler, composer, and writer Ken Waldman and a few close friends. For a grand finale, he will add several local musicians to the mix.
Ken Waldman has drawn on his 30 years in Alaska to produce poems, stories, and fiddle tunes that combine into a performance uniquely his. Since 1995, he has toured full-time performing at some of the nation's leading universities, festivals, arts centers, and clubs. He has nine CDs to his credit that mix Appalachian-style string-band music with original poetry.
In addition, he has written eight books which include six poetry collections, a memoir, and a children's book. For his Indiana engagement, he will be creating some original poetry and collaborating with a few fellow Appalachian-influenced professional musicians to offer up a one-of-a-kind performance.
This concert is free and will be followed by a post community jam Upstairs at the Coney ($10 donation)
