Ken Waldman and Friends: A Special Free Event
Thursday, September 8, 2016; Indiana Theater, 637 Philadelphia Street, Downtown Indiana.
Alaskan fiddler, poet and storyteller, Ken Waldman will present a concert and conduct workshops during his visit to Indiana. The concert will be presented as a special gift to the community as an pre-opening performance of the Northern Appalachian Folk Festival. Admission to the concert is free. A post-concert jam will be held at the Coney ($10 donation).

Kid Koala's Nufonia Must Fall

Based on the acclaimed graphic novel of the same name, Nufonia Must Fall tells a story centering 鈥渁round a headphones-sporting robot on the verge of obsolescence and infatuated with a winsome office drone.鈥 The show is projected on screen with a live string quartet performing while the 鈥渂ackstage鈥 production is brought to the main stage exposing the magic to the audience.

Akropolis Reed Quintet

The Akropolis Reed Quintet performs an innovative repertoire of classical music spanning four centuries up through the present. Their dynamic concerts have raised them to critical acclaim and have allowed them to commission more than 25 reed quintet works to date. Since their founding in 2009, the Akropolis has made a name for itself, greatly impacting the next generation of musicians and audience members alike.
Die Fledermaus (The Bat)

Coproduced by the Department of Music and the Department of Theater and Dance, and sung in English, Die Fledermaus is an ever-popular operetta by the King of Waltz, Johann Strauss. Join in this full-stage production as disguise provides a delightfully humorous night. Directed by Oliver Lo, choreographed by Joan Van Dyke, and featuring the 亚色影库 Faculty Festival Chamber Orchestra conducted by Michael Borowitz.

Diane Schuur has been long regarded as one of the leading vocalists and piano players in the world of contemporary jazz. Harlem Quartet

The Harlem Quartet, founded on the principal of sharing both classical and jazz music with a diverse audience and featuring music by minority composers, has performed across the globe. Since its public debut in 2006 at Carnegie Hall, the New York-based ensemble has performed throughout the U.S. as well as in France, the U.K., Belgium, Panama, Canada, and South Africa.
The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace

Caladh Nua

Caladh Nua is a quintet of versatile musicians who knit together traditional Irish music with a contemporary flair. They have brought their infectious musical passion to a vast, diverse array of cities and people across the globe. With a style deeply rooted in the southern counties of Ireland, they visit Indiana just in time to help us celebrate St. Patrick's Day.
42nd Street

The original Broadway production of 42nd Street premiered in 1980 and played for almost 3,500 performances. It was nominated for eight Tony Awards winning for Best Musical and Best Choreography. It was revived in 2001, winning two more Tony Awards. Today, 42nd Street is one of the top 15 longest running shows in Broadway history.
A New Genesis

Shana Tucker

Shana Tucker鈥攕ongwriter, singer, and cellist鈥攂egan her journey as a musician in the fourth grade when she began taking piano lessons with her great-grandmother. Eventually, her musical talents garnered a scholarship to Howard University. In 2011, Tucker began her journey as a jazz soloist with her debut CD, SHiNE.

NY Gilbert & Sullivan Players in HMS Pinafore

Subtitled The Lass That Loved a Sailor, the New York Gilbert & Sullivan Players' production of HMS Pinafore promises to be a show filled with a larger-than-life comical cast and musical hit songs. This globally-traveled troupe will take you on a satirical trip aboard their British naval vessel with a story that includes a twisting love triangle, dastardly enemies, romantic characters, and signature tunes.
