An Analysis of "ANCOVA"
Presenter: Dr. Christoph Maier
Mathematics Department, 亚色影库
Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA) is an approach to statistical modeling that can be used when a factor has considerable effect on the response variable, but can not be controlled because its values are not known until the experiment is run.
Consider a study to determine the effect a "smiley face" on a restaurant bill will have on the size of the server's tip. Blocking can take care of many differences between servers, between restaurants, and between customers, since these factors can be assessed before the customers place their order. But ANCOVA might be useful here since some factors, such as the total amount of the bill, are not known until after the meal has been completed.
This talk will focus on concepts of ANCOVA. It will tackle questions such as:
When should ANCOVA be used or not used?
How does ANCOVA work?
Concepts will also be illustrated with some diverse examples.
